USE OF MEDIA CENTER To schedule your classes for media center
use, see one of the media coordinators. Because we want the
students' media center experience to be rewarding, please discuss
your plans with us and give us time to check for resources.
It is helpful to us to have a copy of the student assignment.
During your first visit, please allow 15 minutes for the media
staff to introduce appropriate resources.
- INDIVIDUAL
STUDENT USE OF THE MEDIA CENTER Please send students to
the media center with the provided media passes, indicating
on the pass the student's name, the time leaving the classroom,
the time expected back, the purpose for coming to the media
center and sign your name. Please send only one student per
pass and limit to 4 the number of students sent at one time.
When you need additional passes let us know and we will place
them in your mailbox. We do not hand out passes to students
to give to you.
- PROFESSIONAL COLLECTION Books, journals and teacher materials
are located in the professional collection.
-
EQUIPMENT CHECK-OUT VCRs, DVD players, LCD projectors, laserdisc
players, averkeys (connects computer to tv monitor) slide projectors,
camcorders, tripods, rolling platform, cassette/CD players,
TV on rolling cart, sound filmstrip projectors, and screens
are available for daily check-out. An AV equipment
reserve schedule is located at the circulation desk.
- MATV SYSTEM USE We have 6 in-house TV channels for use
in classrooms. Channel 10 is devoted to daily announcements.
You may reserve any of the other channels by signing up on the
MATV reserve schedule clipboard located on the counter in the
MATV room. Due to copyright restrictions, we broadcast only
items that are legally owned by LRHS or Wake County Schools.
If you use rented videos in your classroom they must be approved
by your department chairperson before being shown. PLEASE NOTE:
It is school policy that no R-rated videos or parts of R-rated
videos are to be shown at LRHS.
- COPY SERVICES Please turn in items to be copied at least
48 hours before they are needed. All items submitted should
be copy ready (dark print, standard paper sizes, 8 1 /2"x 11"
or 11"x 14", no cut and paste jobs, no staples, no books). Copy
request forms are available in the copy center. Please fill
these out completely, paper clip the form to your original,
and place items in the box on the table in the copy room. The
copier will reduce but will not enlarge. Please adhere to copyright
laws --- only one-tenth of a book may be legally copied. Workbook
pages and music cannot be legally copied unless copyright permission
has been obtained from the publisher. Copies will not be delivered.
Please do not send students to pick up tests. If you do need
to have a student pick up your classwork, please send a note
with specific information about the items you need.
-
LAMINATING MATERIALS Items to be laminated should be placed
on the table in the periodical room. Make certain that your
name is on the back of each item to be laminated. We will place
a note in your faculty mailbox when the laminating is completed.
- MEDIALAB There is a computer lab (room 101K) with thirty
two computers and a printer
available to teachers and
their students. The media center maintains the sign-up sheet
for this lab (at the circulation desk). Students are not to
use the lab unless there is a teacher present.
